Who is Category A for?
Category A is intended for operating a private boat up to 7 metres long with propulsion up to 15 kW, in navigation area IIIa — up to 6 nautical miles from the mainland or island coast.
You may take the exam from age 15. If you plan to operate a larger vessel, a more powerful engine or in a wider navigation area, compare this program with Category B.
Duration and materials
The course takes one day and lasts approximately five hours. After registering, you receive PDF course notes, a signal table and the exam application.

Where is the exam held?
The exam can be taken at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure at Prisavlje 14 in Zagreb, or at harbour master offices on the coast.
