What does Category B allow?
According to information published on the official Nautika klub website, a Category B licence allows you to operate private boats up to 15 metres and yachts up to 18 metres used privately or chartered without crew.
The navigation area includes zones III and IV, with a limit of 12 nautical miles from the nearest mainland or island coast. Check the requirements and current regulations with the competent harbour master office before the exam.
What is the course like?
The course is generally held over one day and usually lasts around eight hours. On registration, students receive PDF course notes, a signal table and the exam application.
According to the published information, you need the following for the exam
- a completed exam application,
- two 2.5 × 3 cm photographs,
- a two-sided copy of your identity document,
- a two-sided copy of your driving licence,
- proof of payment of the current exam fee.
You may take the exam from age 16. It can be taken in Zagreb or at harbour master offices on the coast.

The published course price is €150 in Zagreb, Rijeka and Crikvenica, and €120 in Rovinj and Pula. The €58.40 exam fee is paid separately. Confirm prices before paying.
